UK Paintball Game Targets Arabs.

Muslim leaders in Britain are outraged about a new game that calls for camouflaged players to shoot BBs at "enemy" players dressed in traditional Arab headdresses, or shemaghs.

The game's creators, however, say using the shemaghs is the "easiest way to tell who the enemy are," according to a report in the London Daily Mail.

"Any sort of game that associates guns and violence with a particular culture is clearly wrong," said Mokhtar Badri, executive member of the Muslim Association of Britain.

*cynical laughter*

Maybe there's a few of our Brit cousins that still have spines after all.

  1. Maybe you're missing something here.

The last time I played paintball (it's been a few years) both sides were armed and looking for and shooting each other. It sounds like this is designed as more of a 'turkey shoot,' in which only players on one side are shooting at players on the other side.

I guess paintball has degenerated from the old days when you had a paintball gun with just as many rounds as your opponents and you were supposed to be competing with them, not just standing around waiting for them to shoot you.

I'd call whoever came up with this one what it sounds like they are-- sick cowards.

  2. A careful re-reading of the linked story shows no evidence that enemy players aren't armed during these war games. Since it's not explicitly stated, I have to conclude that both sides during the game are armed and have the ability to use weapons offensively and/or defensively.

Moreover, the point of the story concerns Muslim perception of bias/discrimination, not whether the rules of the game are fair.
