Antarctic Condom Arithmetic

165,000 condoms were shipped to an Antarctic research station to meet the needs of its staff of 125 people.

165,000/125 works out to 132 condoms per person, which is enough for two screws per week, with 18 condoms left over for use as party balloons, presumably.

  1. The linked story says 16,500 not 165,000. Might have been corrected since you first saw it.

  2. If they are screwing another human, that would be 4 screws per week (2 humans use 1 condom). If they are screwing penguins, then 2 screws per week is correct.

D'oh! That should clue you in to how often I've been needing condoms lately.
