The New York Times, one of the MSM outlets that knew of but concealed the John Edwards affair during the 2008 presidential election, mentions in today's edition that The National Enquirer, the tabloid that broke the story, is being considered for a Pulitzer Prize for its reporting.
I hope that the Enquirer gets it, too. They were the only media source that actually did journalism on the subject, even if it was only of the tabloid variety.
The NE did tabloid journalism because it was a tabloid story. The rest of the MSM totally ignored, no, covered up the story for month after month.
ReplyDeleteThe Enquirer deserves a Pulitzer for doing real reporting, not journalism, on an ultimately distasteful story.
Would the MSM, in this case, include Fox News and the Washington Times? Just asking.
ReplyDelete@wally: Yes, Wally, in this case Fox and Washington Times ignored the story just as did the liberal media, possibly for the same reasons ("hard news" journalists declining to cover tabloid stories) or perhaps to avoid being accused of tabloid journalism by the liberal media outlets.
