We have the same problem in Alaska. The hybrid (!) bears have wandered as far south as Fairbanks (nearly 300 miles south of the Arctic Coast) and a few have even been shot as they broke into occupied cabins, over the winter.
Not good at all, for their prey ... which includes us.
