Orton Will Be Transformed, Better...

...but you'll likely never be able to see it in its transformed state.

Orton Plantation, once a tourist attraction on the west bank of the Cape Fear River near Wilmington, North Carolina, is undergoing extensive renovations under its new owner, who wishes to bring back the longleaf pine forest and rice cultivation of 200 years ago.

He doesn't desire to bring back the tourists, however, so if you haven't been to Orton already, you're not likely to be invited now.

  1. Well, I'd say it's good if the restoration works (and he allows the study by scientists)...

  2. @Old NFO: I got to see it in the springtime of the year it closed. Magical sort of place, a pity only elites will be welcome there in future. Too many places are going that way.
