Hey did you ever read the nautical fiction of Alexander Kent also know as Douglass Reeman. Good stuff full of derring do and drawn cutlasses. They could have used them when they hit those pirates in the South China Sea.

You know the last case of a documented pirate on the continential United States was in Pittsburgh, Pa. Everyone said that Derek Lee was a real pirate. He was living on a boat and he was definately stealing his money! I guess he's doing a lot better now.

Yah, I've read a lot of Reeman's stuff, writing both as himself and Kent. I've read many of the big names of naval fiction: Kent, Forester, O'Brien. I've never gotten around to their predecessor Marryat, who Twain enjoyed reading. Some of the funniest books on the US Navy were written by Daniel Gallery, the WWII naval Captain who captured a U-Boat at sea (it's now a tourist attraction in Chicago). Funny, funny books.
