Bottle Message Travels From Maine To France

Ann Hernandez, a volunteer lighthouse keeper at the Thacher Island (Maine) lighthouse, would throw a message in a champagne bottle into the sea every year on her birthday. Last month, a bottle that Hernandez threw into the sea in 2003 was found on the coast of France, 3200 miles away.

Unfortunately, Hernandez was already dead when the bottle was found, so she'll never know of the successful voyage of her bottle message.

How about the rest of you? Ever have any desire to do this?

If I knew that a bottle that I launched would make it to France, I would pen a not demanding for their unconditional surrender...and airfare so that I could fly to Paris as their new ruler.

They'd give it up...they're French.
