When Sarah Palin Promises To Build A Fence...
...you can take her at her word:

Michael Crowley of Time commented on the fence in a Time blog, I liked his view of what McGinnis's stunt in moving in next to Palin does for journalism:

It plays right into the hands of the many people—including Sarah Palin, who is shrewdly ridiculing McGinniss—with an interest in portraying reporters as creeps with no sense of decency. Journalism faces a credibility crisis, and reporters' motives are under attack by outlets like Fox News, Media Matters and a thousand merciless blogs. Joe McGinniss's very clever but utterly hollow stunt, it seems to me, exacerbates that problem. That doesn't only make life harder for all his colleagues, but it makes life easier for people who want to undermine trust in the media. People just like Sarah Palin.
I'll just note that the credibility crisis he mentions pre-dates Sarah Palin's selection as John McCain's running mate in 2008, but that the MSM did itself no credit with the way that it covered Palin in comparison to the way it covered Barack Obama. The credibility crisis is caused in large part by MSM bias and by refusal to acknowledge that bias, pure and simple.

Palin Hacker Convicted
Convicted on two charges: Unauthorized access to a computer and conspiracy to obstruct justice.
He was found not guilty of wire fraud, and the jury hung on the charge of identity theft.
The obstruction charge could bring a sentence of 20 years, but it's unlikely for a politician's son with no criminal record. But a felony rap will haunt him the rest of his life; prevent him from owning a handgun, prevent him from being bonded or licensed for various jobs, etc.

In Sarah Palin News...
...a small controversy was created in her hometown of Wasilla, Alaska, when four political enemies of Palin's were banned from attending a book-signing appearance by the former governor.
Among the four were a journalist, a blogger, a radio host and a local activist, Andree Mcleod, who achieved fame for filing the stream of harassing, frivolous lawsuits that contributed to driving Palin from office.
Good for Palin. As far as I'm concerned, when a political opponent sets out to damage your career, tarnish your reputation or that of your family, they deserve no further effort at collegiality or tolerance. Maybe Ronald Reagan and Tip O'Neill could sit down and have drinks together at the end of the day, even though they were political opposites; the newer breed of partisan warriors don't operate by the same code.

Alaska Bandwidth Ain't World Bandwidth
Apparently there are so many people trying to visit the Alaska Volcanoes Observatory website that the server has crashed. This is due to the the imminent eruption of Mt. Redoubt, which is 170 miles SW of Anchorage.
I'd be willing to bet that a lot of the attention is coming from the MSM, hoping for a volcano eruption disaster that they can blame on Alaska Governor Sarah Palin.

Gee, And This Only Happened In Alaska?
"Alaska officials exchanged racist emails about Barack Obama."
And since the "Alaska officials" aren't named, we're to assume it's probably Governor Sarah Palin, I suppose, or that this is somehow her fault for fostering a climate of intolerance, I suppose?
The MSM is still in the tank for Obama, and they're prepared to defend him against potential 2012 rivals. Amazing that "officials" in the other 49 states of the Union haven't been caught exchanging "racist emails," isn't it?

White House Guest List Speculation
I'd guess that Oprah is a lock for a sleepover in the Obama White House, but do you think he's got the gonads to invite Rev. Wright or Bill Ayers?

Late Night Election Watch
Only races that still seem interesting are the Minnesota Senate race between Coleman and Franken, which is still a squeaker, and the Alaska Senate race between convicted felon Ted Stevens and Mark Begich, which Stevens is currently leading. I'm hoping that if Stevens is re-elected he'll be forced to resign, which will give Sarah Palin a chance to appoint a successor who will have a full term to prove his/her worth. (it may be a bit more complicated than that, but hopefully common sense will prevail).
Best analogy I can come up with for the election is that the American people, fed up with a lemon car, traded it in on a shiny new model from a different company without really knowing how reliable it is, or how well it will run once the new car smell wears off. I guess we'll find out.
update (0530): Coleman has a slim lead over Franken with 99% of the precincts reporting. Looks like it might be close enough for a mandatory recount to kick in, whichever man ends up winning. Independent candidate Dean Barkley appears to have played something of a spoiler role in the contest.
Also, with 96% of the Alaska vote counted, the race between Stevens and Begich has tightened a bit, but I don't think that the Alaska population is large enough for Begich to catch up.
