Ya Know, It Gets Difficult...

...to keep defending Sarah Palin against charges of being an ignoramus.

And if you get to the point where tu quoque loses its luster and you contemplate the some famous kings were totally illiterate argument, it's probably best to just shut up.

So go ahead and gloat, Walt.

...except that Paul Reviere DID warn the Brits that the citizens knew they were on the way.
The original letter is here.

Here's the part where he told the British army that stopped him:
I observed a Wood at a Small distance, & made for that. When I got there, out Started Six officers, on Horse back, and orderd me to dismount;-one of them, who appeared to have the command, examined me, where I came from,& what my Name Was? I told him. it was Revere, he asked if it was Paul? I told him yes He asked me if I was an express? I answered in the afirmative. He demanded what time I left Boston? I told him; and aded, that their troops had catched aground in passing the River, and that There would be five hundred Americans there in a short time, for I had alarmed the Country all the way up.

No gloating here, Bob. You've made it clear in the past that you're not in the thrall of that part of the conservative spectrum.

@KurtP: I saw that there are claims that Palin was underestimated yet again, and I'll presume she wins a technical victory, it's just that she doesn't seem to have a talent for looking or acting informed when she does interviews. Of course, Bush had the same problem, and it didn't prevent him from handling the economy better than Prof. Obama has.

That's because the Left is so eager to jump on everything she says because they think she's Tina Fey playing Sarah Palin.

It took about 45 seconds of Yahooing to dig that fact up- and I'm not journalist with some kind of college degree ...with layers and layers of fact checkers and editors.

Guys, it's pretty clear that she was winging it and got it wrong--and only after the fact discovered that there was a technical way in which she was right. It's true that the media and the left love to portray her as an airhead, but isn't it possible to defend her without jettisoning your critical faculties?
