...would you rat her out?
BYRON TOWNSHIP, Mich. The FBI says a Michigan man who recognized his mom in surveillance photos of a bank robbery called police to turn her in.
Authorities say 53-year-old Dee Ann Sanders of Martin was charged Tuesday with robbing a Bank of America branch on June 18.
Her arraignment is scheduled Thursday in Grand Rapids.
A teller says the robber handed her a note demanding $2,500 for her children and grandchildren. She got $1,092.
Surveillance photos show a woman wearing a bright red T-shirt with a large American flag on the front.
Man, that's just...sad.

Poll: Afterlife or Oblivion?
Author Stephen King, in an NPR interview, discusses some aspects of his life, including his changing views on the existence of God.
This interview got me to thinking about my own conflicted attitudes toward first causes and a possible afterlife. I've been conflicted for years between rational, science-based thought and the Catholicism of my childhood. I've gone through periods where I considered myself an agnostic, even an atheist, but find that I hate the idea that the traditional lifespan of threescore and ten is all there is. It's life's greatest mystery. Tied up into my own conflicting ball of emotions on the subject is a great deal of self-hatred, an acknowledgement that I've been a lazy, shiftless and petty excuse for a human being, so any traditional afterlife has me worried rather than eager.
I'm curious as to what my readers think about the subject, so let me dictate a poll question in very simple terms, offered as a choice: you can, upon your death, choose to participate in an afterlife. You will have absolutely no foreknowledge of its nature, you have to take what is offered; no do-overs, second chances or endless resurrections as you might find in a video game. The other choice is oblivion, nothingness: the state you enter when you sleep and aren't dreaming. Total unawareness, irrevocable. What would your choice be? Feel free to offer details in comments, if you like.

Today's Poll: Will Hillary Testify?
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is due to testify on the Benghazi attack today. The last time she was scheduled to testify she had an unfortunate accident and couldn't make it. Do you think she'll actually make it to Capitol Hill today?

Today's Poll
Look at this photograph:
Today's Poll:
I'll reveal the answer tomorrow.
Update: It's a woman. She's a teacher who has been accused of having sex with an underage student; an underage female student, if that helps explain her appearance, and I think it does...not that there's anything wrong with that...

Today's Poll
Inspired by a discussion over at Breda's Facebook page.
Now, I have opinions of Kinkade's work myself, but I'd like to hear your honest opinions without my words influencing you. I might chime in if the post is successful, i.e., receives more genuine comments than Cyrillic spam comments. Judging by recent posts that ain't likely.

We're Racist and Dumb and We Easily Cum
According to a study that found its way into Yahoo! News, "Low IQ & Conservative Beliefs Linked to Prejudice."
On the bright side, though, "Republicans are more likely than Democrats to achieve orgasm during sex: Match.com survey."

Would You Vote For This Guy?
Would you be inclined to vote for this former President of the US, based on this quote:
I would relieve the burdens of the whole community as far as possible, by reducing the taxes. I would keep as much money in the treasury as the safety of the Government required, and no more. I would keep no surplus revenue there to scramble for, either for internal improvements, or for anything else. I would bring the Government back to what it was intended to be - - a plain economical Government.
Poll:
Bonus points if you can identify him. If no one does, I'll disclose his identity tomorrow, or maybe Monday.

Time For A Poll
Basically for the men, but women may participate, also. Feel free to add comments. The premise is based on the study cited in this story, that Australian men chose "normal" shaped women over fashion models or Playboy centerfolds. I think that the Aussies may have been being politic, myself, but let's do the poll and see.
