Apparently today is Show Off Your Tomahawk Day, or at least Old NFO got the ball rolling by showing off his, and a couple of others have joined in as well. Here's mine, a Cold Steel Trail Hawk with the factory paint removed, along with a Becker Knife and Tool BK-5 made by Ka-Bar, likewise with paint removed:
One of the commenters over at Old NFO's place mentioned the Cold Steel Spetsnaz shovel, I'd like to pick up one of those, the commenter was spot-on in his reasoning, that a shovel is easier to justify to police and judges than even a tomahawk is.

Meanwhile, In UK...
...having effectively banned guns and working on banning knives, some set their sights (oops, gun metaphor. Bad Bob!) on...wait for it...spoons.
Liam Whelan was sent by his stepmother to their local Tesco in Haslingden to buy replacements for the spoons he keeps losing.
But staff refused to sell the 57p pack of teaspoons to Liam, from Deardengate, because he was not 18.
Here's the little thug with his weapon of choice:
h/t Robb at Sharp as a Marble.

Progress Toward a Weaponized Laser
The UK Daily Mail compares it to a light saber from Star Wars, but it's far closer to the laser guns of science fiction than it is to a sword.
You'd still need much more power to make this a lethal weapon to compare with a firearm. Doubtless you could blind someone with it or burn a hole through them if they held still for it, but it's not a Star Trek phaser or a Star Wars blaster by any stretch of the imagination. Yet.

Why Don't You Just Go Load 16 Tons of #9 Coal, Then, Braggart?
A story about weapons confiscated at the Statue of Liberty.
One boastful Canadian doesn't apparently feel the need for weapons:
"I have two fists - one of iron and one of steel. Who needs Mace?" said a man who identified himself only as Roger, of the Rocky Mountain region of western Canada. He was surprised by the rigorous screening, much like an airport, with screeners asking visitors to take off their belts and shoes.

When Knives Are Outlawed...
...only outlaws will carry knives.
Although I don't think that calling someone an outlaw for simply wanting to be allowed the human right of armed self-defense is fair, when you think about it.

This Is Not What Your Concealed Carry License Is For
It's for self-defense, not so you can play Barney Fife and set up a "sting" that bypasses normal law enforcement procedures.
I'm sympathetic about your situation, I really am, but you know that you should have gone to the law with the evidence that the guy was trying to sell your daughter drugs. I hope that the DA refuses to charge you, and if he does charge you, I hope the jury refuses to convict you. It's probable that you've lost your CCW with this unwise act.

Burnin' Down the Drones
With the US Navy ship-borne laser weapon.
Maybe I'll live to have my own Star Trek-style phaser after all.
update: the video is set to autoplay, so I disembedded it. Click the link to see it. H/T to Borepatch for pointing this out.

Sonic Stunner Invented?
An Oak Ridge, TN, scientist claims to have invented a portable sonic weapon powered by a 9volt battery.
Science fiction writer Larry Niven wrote of sonic stunners in his Known Universe stories, in which they were used as non-lethal defense weapons, duelling weapons, and crowd-control devices.
