Random Opinion of the Day

Corollary to Johnson's Law ("Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel"): Hypocrisy is the favorite refuge of the politician.

Figures

Ben Affleck, the millionaire leftist actor who thinks governments should rig economies to benefit the poor, apparently likes to rig the game in his own favor when playing blackjack in Las Vegas.

Ben Affleck has been banned from playing balckjack at a Las Vegas casino after allegedly being caught counting cards.

The 41-year-old actor was gambling at a high rollers table of the Hard Rock Casino, close to the Las Vegas strip, when he was allegedly confronted Tuesday night for being 'too good'.

Staff are said to have accused him of the tactic, which is not illegal but is a ground for being banned.

Hypocrisy, Thy Name Is...

...Mark Kelly.

Mark E. Kelly, gun-control proponent and husband to former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, recently purchased an AR-15 (an "assault weapon," he called it)—which he now says he intended as an illustration of the need for more stringent gun laws.

Yessir, buying them up one at a time to keep us all safe. Maybe Bill Gates has enough money to do that, I doubt Mark Kelly does.

Hypocrite Says What?

"I also believe that a lot of gun owners would agree, AK-47s belong in the hands of soldiers, not in the hands of criminals." - - President Obama, speaking to Urban League of New Orleans on the 25th of July.

Oh, you mean AK-47's like the ones you and your utterly corrupt Attorney General, Eric Holder, allowed to flow into Mexico and into the hands of drug cartels, who used them to murder over 300 Mexican nationals and Border Patrol agent Brian Terry? Those AK-47's?

It's a Win-Win Scenario!

Victor Davis Hanson on Obama's heavy use of Predator drones and Hellfire missile strikes:

For Pres. Barack Obama, the Predator drone avoids former candidate Obama’s past legal objections by simply blowing apart suspected terrorists without having to capture them — and then to ponder how and where they should be tried. With a dead, rather than a detained, terrorist, civil libertarians cannot demand that Obama honor his campaign pledge to treat suspects like American criminals, while conservatives cannot pounce on any perceived softness in extending Miranda rights to captured al-Qaeda killers.

Money Where the Mouth Is

Ya know, I really wish that when some rich bastard goes on Larry King or whatever other softball interview show whining that he makes just too much money and he really wouldn't mind if the government would tax him a bit more, that the host would have the balls to challenge him on it, saying something like, Well, gee, Mr. Warren Buffett, why don't you just dust off that checkbook of yours and write the government a big, fat check without the Congress having to change the IRS rates? No one is stopping you; they might even let you designate where the money can go. If you spend enough on the Navy, for example, maybe they'll name a ship after you. Spend it on the Interior Department, maybe they can name a national park or national forest after you. Pony up, if you feel that you aren't contributing enough. I'll just sit here and wait while you write the check.

But ya know, it seems that the billionaire in question never dusts off that checkbook, does he?
