NY Times article on the Heller decision and less-than-lethal methods of self-defense.
Tasers are mentioned. They work fine, if the assailant doesn't rip out the wires (Rodney King did) and if there is only one assailant.
Personally I want a Star Trek phaser. Small, unobtrusive, reliable, versatile, able to do everything from heat rocks, to stun an assailant, and even to kill him if necessary.
