In this case it's not even remotely serious, judging from the trailer. It plays off of the "fish out of water" principle of Barnabas Collins being loose in the world...in 1972.

I just *knew* that all the recent Twilight-this and Werewolf-that stuff would resurrect this old guy...
I'm not sure its going to work. If you spoof something the audience has to know it. I'm fifty, I barely remember the show. Rushed home from school and asked my older sister for an update on what I missed.
