The vet in question is a ship, though, not a human.
USS North Carolina (BB-55) moored (sunk in the mud, actually) at the Cape Fear River in Wilmington, North Carolina, has been need of hull repair for years now; steel that was once 1" thick below the waterline is now a fraction of that. Moving the huge ship to a dry dock would have been prohibitively expensive and dangerous, so a portable cofferdam structure has been purchased, which can repair sections of the hull while the ship remains at her current mooring:
The cofferdam is fastened to a small section of the hull and work done piecemeal; since it has been purchased by the battleship's trust, it will be available for future hull repairs.
