Yet Another Reason To Go Heeled

Hawks might swoop down and gouge your head.

If you click the link, you'll see that the bird in question is called a buzzard. In UK, hawks of the genus buteo are called buzzards; in the US, the same term is often applied to vultures. It was a hawk that swooped down and attacked the man, not a vulture.
