With gold still over $900 an ounce, people have begun prospecting for it again.
You see? There are hard, backbreaking jobs that Americans still want, as long as it is profitable enough!
I'm reminded also of the fence-painting scene in The Adventures of Tom Sawyer where Twain notes that anything a body is obliged to do is work, and that anything a body is not obliged to do, no matter how hard, is play.
