Shipwreck Blog: Unidentified, Fla. Atlantic Coast

A surfer discovered what has turned out to be a shipwreck off Florida's Ponte Vedra Beach.

It's right at the surfline, so waves are making it hard for archaeologists to work. They're thinking early 19th century due to clues from the construction. More than 450 ships have been wrecked off the Florida coast.

I think the writer Stephen Crane was shipwrecked at Ponte Vedra, before the turn of the last century. Would it not be fun if this wreck was connected to that event?

Actually that's the first I've ever heard about Crane being shipwrecked, thanks for bringing it to my attention.
