Survival On a British Columbia Beach

Swam ashore after a small skiff she'd been riding in capsized.

Her partner apparently drowned. The woman survived on some rations from the skiff (it washed ashore?) and drinking water from a stream she found. She had the means to make a signal fire and attracted attention by throwing coals/embers into the air.

Clever indeed, and makes me think that the woman, 62 years old, had some knowledge of survival skills/tactics.
