Quote of the Day

"Personal integrity is the heart of Marine Corps leadership.”

Thirteen young Marine officers were kicked out of the Marine Corps for cheating on an exam, including a star fullback for the US Naval Academy football team.

Integrity.

Nice to see a moral value taken so seriously in these days of doubt and moral relativism.

As a liberal and moral relativist, I believe that cheaters should go free. Criminals too.

There's a reason you rarely see an academy team in a bowl game.

Football is not why they're there.

As it should be.

And, in my humble opinion, some other major schools could take a lesson from the academies.

@Sailorcurt: actually, Curt, there is a controversy at the Naval Academy over student athletes getting away with violations of the Honor Code that non-athletes are dismissed over. The Commandant of the Academy actually defended a football player who was caught on a drug violation after ingesting marijuana-laced food, saying that there was no proof that the player had been aware of what he was ingesting:

I wasn't aware of that Bob, thanks for pointing it out to me.

There are always exceptions to the rules, and having incompetence, corruption and dishonor appear at the highest levels of leadership is not unheard of in the military.

In general terms, however...
