"A Crack In The Stoic's Armor." An op/ed about the philosophy of Stoicism and how it relates to US military personnel.
I've read Marcus Aurelius myself, but not Epictetus, not yet, although I have his writings in the same volume as the Marcus Aurelius. Guess I'll have to dig that book out and delve into it. It's probably online, as well. Copyright long ago expired. *laughs*

I prefer Epictetus to Aurelius, myself. And you can find it online.
As with all the stoics, you'll find a lot to skip over, but there's a lot that will make you think.
I'll be reading those during the upcoming three weeks of Annual Training, time permitting.
The NYT article is pretty bad. You might think that a professor of philosophy would have a better grasp on the difference between intellectual understanding, emotional living, and the difficulty of integrating the two.
You'd think wrong. There's a great article waiting to be written on this subject. This wasn't it.
