Note: be sure to click on the link for the video presentation, it's great. BigDog looks like two skinny-legged guys with a huge pack on their joined backs, and makes a noise like a chainsaw when it moves. The section of the video where the BigDog slips on ice is worth the price of admission, itself.
I notice it's a DARPA project, so it's a fun use of taxpayer dollars.
