With the latest massacre still in the news, it looks like the gunman's weapon of choice, a military rifle that is thought to be either an AR15 or an AK47 (too early for accurate details, this is from a police report) will cause Congress to take up the regurgitated Assault Weapons Ban earlier than they otherwise might have.

I'm not sure, quite frankly. The Democrats know what a hot button issue that is and with Obama showing early signs of impending unpopularity, I don't think Pelosi and Reid want to fight the 1994 battle all over again.
IF they retain large majorities in the House and Senate in 2010, they might try then.
All of which is speculation on my part.
