It's supposed to be out in November of next year, and promises to just work. A tough claim, but Google has the reputation of making things happen.
I can't help but wonder, though, when the shoe will drop, and Google will call in the markers for all of the "free" stuff it offers. If you use their OS, their email, their Docs, their browser, their mapping/Earth, what are you willing to pay for it? Do you think it will be free forever?

I'm starting to think that all this free stuff is Evil.
@Borepatch: *nods* I think that Google is working on the heroin principle, getting the public hooked on something that will prove harmful and expensive in the long run.
You mean that LIBERAL company Google that probably has the capacity to cache all of your online interactions with it,,,,might have some kind of unterior motive?
Like if you're a conservative who's dumb enough to use it for questionable web things, that they'd have any problems using it as a club against you?
