Note In Passing

I had to go to five different grocery stores before I could find my favorite soft drink, which is Diet Cherry Dr. Pepper. It's only made in 12-oz. cans, no 2-liter bottles or other alternatives.

Were I to mention this to my anti-Semitic sister, she would start raving about "Jersey Joooos" who habitually buy up all the foodstuffs that are on sale, whether they have any particular need for it or not.

I should note that, in four of the stores I tried to buy the Dr. Pepper in, the soft drinks were on sale...

Hmm. Didn't he Meet Jesus, the Palestinian Carpenter's Son...

...in a famous scene from that movie?

Based on the novel by Lew Wallace, the period drama revolves around Judah Ben-Hur (Heston), a Palestinian nobleman [bold font by Big Hollywood] who is enslaved by the Romans, engages in one of the most thrilling chariot races ever captured on screen, and even encounters Jesus Christ.

How About "Oops, the Scalpel Slipped?"

In Germany, a Jewish surgeon refused to operate on a man with a swastika tattoo.

In some emergency circumstances, by German law the surgeon would have been required to operate, ethical considerations be damned.

What would you have done?

Everybody Hates the Joos*

Rick Sanchez of CNN certainly does.

Make that formerly of CNN. Evidently the Joos heard the recording of Sanchez' radio rant and fired his dumb ass in a tersely-worded statement:

"Rick Sanchez is no longer with the company. We thank Rick for his years of service and we wish him well."

Of course, hating on the Joos doesn't have to be the end of Sanchez' broadcast career, he can always get a job at Al-Jazeera. Or the BBC, for that matter.

Sanchez was a dumb scoundrel, too, once asking a scientist who expressed a measurement using the Metric system "how much is that in English?" and musing on-air about the Iceland volcanic eruption from earlier this year, apparently thinking that volcanoes are a warm-weather phenomenon only.

*I came up with the blog post title thinking of this old Motown song:
