American Carol Update

David Zucker's movie An American Carol opened yesterday; it was not screened in advance for critics. Usually this is done because the movie is so bad that the producers don't want it savaged by reviewers before the public has a chance to see it; in the case of An American Carol, the distributor, Vivendi Entertainment, didn't think that the movie would get fair reviews from a mainly left/liberal group of newspaper movie writers. Vivendi's guess was correct, and the movie is being savaged by reviewers.

The Los Angeles Times actually discusses the bias factor, and pooh-poohs the idea that reviewers can't be objective, then goes on to savage the film.

I've read over a dozen reviews so far, and the only ones that have been positive have been from conservative sources, such as National Review and The Weekly Standard.

Some typical headlines found on Google News:

Comic Right-Wing Broadside (Very Broad) (NY Times)

What the Dickens? This 'Carol's' Discord Sickens (Washington Post)

Conservative 'Carol' is flat and unfunny (Philadelphia Inquirer)

No laughs to be found in Zucker's pathetic parody (Salt Lake City Tribune)

Zucker, Nielsen Return For 'American Carol' Clunker (Hartford Courant via Orlando Sentinel)

'An American Carol' appeals to our inner idiot (Grand Rapids Press)

‘American Carol’ is Moore-onic (Boston Herald)

And so on. You can read more of the same if you want. The MSM is trying to run down the movie, the same way they have run down Sarah Palin and every other thing that conservatives believe in. How about showing them how wrong they are by making An American Carol the hit of the weekend, if not the hit of the fall season?
