Here, Kitty, Kitty, Kitty

She must have been as nearsighted as Mr. Magoo:

MOUNT CARMEL, Pa. (AP) — A Pennsylvania woman who thought she was petting a neighbor's cat got a smelly surprise when it turned out to be a skunk.

Not A Cat.

Eh. I almost did that. I have a black and white kitty whose black and white mom haunts the neighborhood. They are mortal enemies.

I caught a glimpse of mom under my hedge, took a snapshot on a lark, and was astonished to see I had two photos of a startled and unhappy skunk.

My maternal grandfather was a policeman in Mt. Lebanon, PA (a suburb of Pittsburg) a long time ago, and on one occasion had to get a skunk out of a schoolroom, with the usual consequences. It's one of my mother's favorite stories of her childhood.
