...and I mean literally just up the road from where I live, a traffic accident caused us to be without power for all of the evening.
The accident occurred just a couple of houses down from a fire station, amazingly enough, so the response time to the accident was pretty quick, as you can imagine.

Damn. Every time we get a power outage around here its over in a few minutes. When we first moved in in '76 power outages were frequent and most lasted several days, some a couple of weeks. A two week power outage with two pre-school kids in the house really drives home to a city girl, (my wife) the meaning of the old Boy Scout canard, "Be Prepared'.
