Hey, Look, a Way To Save Federal $$$

Either stop making these dollar coins, or stop making dollar bills. It's insanity and fiscally irresponsible to make both.

Logically the coins should be in cash drawers, and dollar bills withdrawn from circulation, because the coins are durable and last for years, even decades, while the bills quickly wear out and must be replaced.

There, that wasn't so hard now, was it?

But they have to put "In God We Trust" back on them or I won't use them.

While I totally agree with this sentiment, my TAX CHEAT! stamp just arrived in the mail, so I'd like the Feds to keep dollar bills in circulation as long as Timmy Geitner is Secretary of the Treasury so I can get my money's worth out of my new "dollar bill modifier."

Walk around with a dozen of those dollar coins in your pocket for a day, and you might change your mind.

@wally: yah, they're heavy, but people are increasingly opting to go cashless, using debit cards for all (or most all) transactions. You might live to see a cashless society.

,,,which pretty much renders the debate over dollar coins meaningless, right?

@wally: not really, because the problem still exists at this time, and is a simple way to save some taxpayer money.
